These hand-held calculators with the "Ruby" name are unusual since although labelled "Advance Electronics Co., Ltd." on the back they were manufactured in Taiwan and not by Advance Electronics Ltd. at Bishops Stortford.  It could be that by the mid-1970s, with the collapse in the price of calculators, they could not manufacture them economically and so for a time contracted to have other calculators re-labelled for them.
